The theories as to wherefore the name of this desperately cute little cabaret are as legion as the tourists who immortalise it with their cameras.

Is the bunny in question named after its artistic creator, a certain M. Gill, whence the condensed form of 'Lapin á Gill' (Gill's Rabbit)?

Or could it be a reference to the typical alcoholic measure used for noggin back the old absinthe there by the likes of Pierre-Auguste, Henri and Vincent?

Then again maybe it's just what it says: an agile leporine bounding around trying its darnedest to escape the casserole!

But maybe you have an even more interesting idea - all twitches and nibbles welcome >:•=
