I publish few pictures of tourists, but in this case I think it is justified.

Because I didn't have any others apart from anything else, but there's more to it than that.

Tourists shooting locks and looks on a bridge too far gone on Notre Dame's weary backside.

Love locks will be the death of this place. Even the Romanians are selling them, fresh from Monoprix and the Indian shops, love on a locket, the monotonous monochrome plastic wrapped packs ripped open, waiting for love on a shoestring. And a whim.

Love on a whim. Or a wire. It could be a song, or a poem. Come to think of it, it is, one from long long ago that would be...

And why not...

I'm a bit of a closet fan of these old drinking fountains with these incongruous plaques - Water Dangerous To Drink - which rather defeats the purpose.

This is the second of two I know around the city but I'm sure there are more, probably hidden away in discrete courtyards like this one.

Judging by the chipped paint and what's showing through this used to be painted a splendid red or orange but alas no more. We're back to boring black I'm afraid.

There's actually something of a plethora of curious plaques and signs of one sort or another hidden away behind those classic Parisian coachway doors. Watch this space. Or 'Mind Your Head' if you prefer.

And why not...

Somewhere, deep in the heart of the regenerated 13th arrondissement, something stirred...

OK, so I played around with this but it's still pretty awesome when you see it, and realise... that it exists.

A monster surprise to me who thought I knew it all and cheered me up no end, coz (nearly) knowing it all really ain't all it's fired up to be...

And why not...

Oh, I'd completely forgotten about this one. Another night on another Paris bridge for ya.

Love those over the top colours, don't you? And love the couple of shadows with their humans in tow...

I'm definitely overdoing the old creased photo effect, this is true, but until I rediscover my fevered imagination it'll probably crop up a few times yet.

And why not...

One of these days I'm going to go out on a nice, bright, sunny afternoon and shoot picture postcard views of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame and the like. One of these days.

Until then here's another mean and moody metro shot. For me it's a beast. I mean almost a living thing which swallows us up and spits us out, but cradles and rocks us too sometimes.

It's a different thing to different people, of course, but for me there will always be something sinister about going down into the bowels of the city, no matter how brightly lit those white tiled corridors may be. There are always those grim, gaping tunnels, and the odd gloomy metro entrance to make the imagination wander.

And why not...

Witness the snarly sidewalks of the city. A double me spiking a singular character, never to be seen or suspected again.

Sometimes in my quest for the ideal point between a crystal clear photo and barely distinguishable impressionist painting, I doubt what I end up with. But then I just let it go and accept that that was the day's efforts and tomorrow will bring something new and possibly even more difficult to fathom, possibly not.

If this one had been played around with even more it would almost be pointillistic, if that's a word. As it is it's just super grainy and I'm not unhappy with it. For me, who is often confronted with his own shadow of a Paris evening it symbolises my many walks although for others it may be a bit too obscure to qualify as a bone fide 'Paris shot'. Say wot?

And why not...
