If Walls Could Talk

If Walls Could Talk, originally uploaded by Paris Set Me Free.

Christmas staggers on. I don't know exactly the official day for taking down all the shiny stuff they put up, but neither greengrocers nor green-clad government guys seem about to set to it just yet.

I know this because here is rue St. Denis, or rue Montorgueil (maybe, it was a long day) on Saturday 7th Jan, or thereabouts, visibly still in full glittering glory.

It was a long day because I was trying out a new walk before doing it 'officially' tomorrow afternoon with 30 people, weather and stamina permitting.

The new walk follows the traces of one of the many different enclosures and fortifications which have surrounded and protected the city at one time or another. It's generally known as the Philippe Auguste wall, built 800 years ago, and jolly interesting it is too! If you like old walls.

A daunting task to deChristmastize the city. I imagine convoys of trucks to collect the decor for storage until next year.

Am quite anxious to see these 800 year old walls. How historic!
