Pretty in Pink was an eighties American teen flick, an excellent Psychedelic Furs track from the same era, and now it's a Wallace Fountain somewhere near you in down-town-ish Paris.

OK, not quite city centre, but close enough - after all, all of Paris is my city centre to all intents and purposes, or the centre of my universe at the very least.

I recently showed you an in-yer-face citrony yellow version of one of these just around the corner, but if anything this one is even more striking. After a million visions of this classic Paris icon in sobre bottle green, these supposedly temporary modifications can leave your stomach churning.

Maybe it's the start of a trend. We'll wake up one morning to a bright pink Louvre pyramid, a violently magenta Eiffel Tower and a fumingly fuchsia Sacré Coeur. The Pompidou Centre can stay as is.

I reckon they're capable of doing it; after all, I'm sure I've seen Lady Eiffel red for China, green for Ireland and blue for, err, Europe I think it was. And pink for... hmm, same sex marriage perhaps. Delanöe is still mayor of Paris, after all...

And why not...
