Him again! Only this time the three-faced wall-lurker has a new, side-on sneary smile to share.

I say three-faced because until now Gregos had a smile, pursed lips and the famous tougue out versions of his face cast in plaster and plastered all over Paris.

Now he's added a new version, and this is the first time I've spotted it. Nice to see him keeping things fresh.

There's a slight ethical issue though, as he's put it on the side of one of the most iconically middle-aged edifices in the city, down in that little cul-de-sac down the side of the Swiss Centre.

Then again, the whole thing is so covered in graffiti the only thing he could do would be improve it in the end I reckon. And it won't last, the jealous street art vandals will see to that.

All truly is ephemeral, no doubt including these jutting out, wooden beam supported structures. Wouldn't it be fascinating to come back in 100, 200, 500 and 1000 years to see just what has survived and at what point the past becomes overrun by the present.

It probably comes down to money in the end, but hopefully Paris will continue to pull people in for the right reasons of revelling in the past for these things to survive for a few more centuries yet. Maybe even good old Gregos will still be grinning away in 50 years - I doubt it, but who knows? I'll tell you in 2062!

And why not...
