~ Wanna Take A Bath? ~
|
Well whether you did or not, nothing's gonna change the fact that the rue Chateaudun area of Paris, not that you asked, had more than its fair share of public baths, and no, that's not a euphemism, unless you want it to be one.
Because, you see, back in the day, running water wasn't an every household occurrence, and plenty of everyday gentlefolks had to go elsewhere to perform their daily ablutions. Hence the public baths.
Hey, even the modest local swimming pool back in my old home town in north London used to be called the 'Public Baths' and it's probably not a coincidence.
So if it isn't quite the Bains Chantereine I'm showing you, which used to be on the rue Chateaudun, it's the Bains de Chateaudun, which aren't, but hey, who's taking notes anyway. It's all Paris, and that's what counts, right? Bons baisers, and stay clean, if you know what's good for you!
