Year of the (Fluffy) Pig

Year of the Pig, originally uploaded by Paris Set Me Free.

Following some exhaustive research i reckon this rat has just missed its own Chinese new year by a couple of incarnations, as we're about to move over from the Year of the Tiger to the Year of the Rabbit. Does this suggest gentler, indeed fluffier times ahead? Don't bet your last yen on it.

And as for our poor old common or boutique woof-woof, well he's got another eight dog years before a fleeting twelve months or so of Sino-zodiacal supremacy.

But why all this talk of brutish bestiality? We're in France, for goodness' sake, where the real question on lips that live for this sort of thing is whether the Year of the Macaroon will be succeeded by the Year of the Boot or the Year of the Shades.

Umm. Maybe because i'm more interested in fantastical vermin than fashion victims but that is, as ever, just me, and how could it be otherwise?

So, whatever your particular foible or folly, i wish you plenty of it in this two thousand and eleventh year of the common era, and good health, happiness, motivation, productivity and productivity to all of you. Thanks for reading my words and looking at my pictures from time to time - i appreciate it more than you could imagine.

(P.S. I have a thing about pigs - china or fluffy ones as a rule. Will fluffiness be a recurring theme in 2011? Let's hope so!)
