Paris and I ~ 'Comrades In Arms'

Comrades In Arms, originally uploaded by Paris Set Me Free.

A sad ceremony was held today in the corner of a well-known Parisian cemetery to mark the passing of the English 2018 World Cup bid.

The valiant efforts of the lads, Davy-Boy, Wicked Willy and who was the other one.. oh yeah, Davy-Boy, were thwarted thanks to widespread corruption and vote rigging at the very heart of the FIFI board, who finally gave the go-ahead to a country whose leadership is rife with widespread corruption and vote rigging: namely, ex-communist dictatorship Russia lead by 'ex'-KGB spy, Vladimir Puton.

Understandably the chaps were unhappy, and chose the intimate surroundings of Montmartre to assuage their chagrin, followed by a darn good night out on the piss in Pigalle, which was conveniently located just around the corner.

A pale day indeed for English football, then, that sport where grown men get to play with their balls in public, and get paid the GDP of a developing country to do so. Rest in peace, comrade.

I so wanted to pop over and watch a match. Ah well, that's the way of it, corruption where there is money to be made. Until the day FIFA reigns in the UK, we have Premier and Champions League. How is ,y adopted Manchester United doing. I watched a match on the TV one evening a few years back while in Paris. Rooney and Renaldo were the strikers, what a team.

Manchester are still doing ok, although it seems like the old order is changing a bit with some teams like Spurs and Man City doing better these days. Not just the 'Big Four' any more.
I was being facecious in my comments, but on the radio yesterday someone was reminding us that it used to be 'The World Cup', but now it's 'The FIFA World Cup'...
