Paris and I ~ 'Art For Art's Sake'

iPhone Photo Chronicles
~ Art For Art's Sake ~

Art For Art's Sake, originally uploaded by Paris Set Me Free.

Street art occurs in many shapes, forms, sizes, places and styles, and at the risk of getting a heavily loaded paint brush rammed down my throat for stating once again the blindingly obvious... Paris is full of it.

What's interesting about this image though, is that you're looking at three different types of street art in one:

Art in the street - i.e. the paintings on the pavement; Art being created in the street - i.e. this creative dude in action providing a show in his own right; And of course the art of street photography, without which you wouldn't be looking at this image right now.

i admit there's a slight flaw in this beautiful succession of images in that the art we're seeing being created here is not actually destined to stay in the street but to be displayed on someone's wall. But i'm sure i'm the only one who's worrying about that, right?!

i love watching these guys and learning from them as i start to incorporate aerosol techniques more and more into my own street art, and in this case i am talking about stuff destined for the streets, although i produce it far from the critical eye. And for that they should be admired even more. The spray paint guys i mean.
