A grubby grab shot of a gruesomely grey building on a dreary bleary day. So you get the picture. And then: rainbow man! Well, kind of. Enough to make me drag out the old phone and run after the guy in an attempt to immortalise the moment.

Should I delve into the pseudopsychology of the choice of umbrella colour and what it says about our innermost thoughts and perversions? Probably not.

I'm afraid I tend to go for sober colours, surprisingly enough, with boring, I mean mysterious and enigmatic black being my hue of prediliction. No, I think I was right the first time with boring.

Rainbow or red, green, blue and yellow umbrellas are such fun. There's not much more of a visible statement you could make than having an in-yer-face paintbox explosion to shield you from the elements. But could you carry it off. Have you got the gumption, the wherewithal, the spunk?

So, while we're on the subject, what colour's YOUR umbrella, and what does it mean? I'm bursting to know!
