This is a famous fountain in the 5th for all the wrong reasons. It's one particular feature of this menagerie, in homage to famous naturalist Georges Cuvier, which arrests the eye.

You'd think that M. Cuvier would himself have been affronted if he'd laid eyes upon the crocodile on the left. Ouch! That's one hell of a head swivel, especially for an animal which has the anatomical impossibility of assuming such a pose... we all make mistakes and, presumably for the purpose of balancing the composition, the croc's paid the price with his neck: snap!
