Not the first time I've taken a picture of a thundering RER train, I'll give you that, but I spend so much of my life waiting for and on these things, sometimes that's just the first thing that comes to mind, although hopefully not literally, as looking at the size, speed and determination of the thing... It. Would. Win.

I don't know if I've talked about suicidal tendencies before, and that's not where I'm going with this, but there's always that strange thought about how it would be to get run over by one of these things, and where, strategically speaking, would be the best place or way to be in order to make it as painless as possible.

Then there are the unfortunately very true stories of nutters pushing people in front of trains as they rush into the stations, the results of which don't bear thinking about.

But I will. Imagine if just as the nutter reached you for the final shove you bent down to pick up a coin, then straightened just as he was over your back, thus catapulting him into the path of the approaching monster. Would you than be guilty of... well, what?

Which reminds me of a cartoon of an old couple with the woman admiring the sea from a clifftop and her husband approaching with the sandwiches.

The old man's thought bubble shows him running up behind her and pushing her off the cliff. The old woman's thought bubble shows her bending over at the last moment and him going straight over the top...

So next time you're waiting for a train, with your 'loved' one just behind you (or in front of you)... spare a thought for the cleaners!
