The Road To Hell

Our lives are a - seemingly - never-ending series of choices, and what we make of that existence relies directly on the decisions we make.

One of the driving choices shown in this photo is a road which heads out of Paris to the south, and Is rather slyly known as the 'Autoroute du Soleil'.

Yes, well, it's certainly true that you may indeed experience quite a bit of soleil as you sit, sweltering, in a four-hour traffic jam packed full off other poor sods crawling Med-wards on France's sunny highway of hell.

The country's big enough: they might as well just build another one next to it and cut our misery in half, but anyway.

So that's why the time on the clock says half past midnight. And if you're leaving Paris for the south around the last week of July i suggest you try night driving too. Although you'll have a couple of terrifying near misses as you jerk awake and realise the car in front is about two feet away and closing rapidly, but apart from that, it's fine.
