Retrospectively Yours
Ahh, what a retro pleasure to discover a hole-in-the-ground peeing
place from time to time. It's less funny if you want to do more than
pee, but i don't think you need any more details (you do need strong
thighs though).
Where to find these charming relics of a more upstanding era? Well try
the more working class cafés for a start - they often haven't felt any
pressing need to change.
i used the word 'retro' above because i played a cassette tape to some
of my students today (trainee teachers) and one of them said: 'Wow,
that's retro', and i'm still mulling over the comment and trying to
remember the precise moment at which i crossed over to the 'retro
generation', but i can't quite put my finger on it.
