Water in Paris is such an integral part of the city, it's easy to forget that even something as banal as a dripping tap can change its appearance over the years.

Far from the turn-of-the-last-century elegance of the Wallace fountain, here we have a, dare I say it, unsightly lump of bricks, adding nothing to the 20th century's reputation for crap architecture. For goodness' sake. They could have made a bit more effort than this. Like they did with the Millenium Fountains. But there it is.

A charmless block, which nevertheless works, which is to be applauded, and which, presumably, quenches thirsts just like in the old days. Roll back the old days, of which there's plenty of evidence in Paris still, thankfully.
