Down on the banks of the Seine, strange things can happen. Especially of an evening.

It may look like broad daylight but I assure you it was night time and this couple were having an impromptu little waltz if you please. And even if you don't please.

If I'd been the dancing type I might have joined them but much to the chagrin of practically every partner I've ever had, I'm not; can't stand the activity. Well, I did some salsa once and that was quite fun. Barn-dancing and square dancing's a hoot. Flamenco is unbelievably cool and disco is just ridiculous.

So there you have it. Don't ask me for a dance, but I might send you a photo if you're nice.

And why not...

Beautiful bit of light-fingered delicatesse from the maestro Rodin here, to be found in his own personal garden.

My iPhone seems to have successfully focused on the leaves behind the statue as opposed to the head or the hand but it gives it a certain elsewhere feel if you follow (or feel like humouring me).

Something terribly poignant about this lost little dummy, forlorn but probably not forgotten by some unfortunate child.

If he (or she) is anything like mine a major trauma may have ensued with no other dummy, old or new that will do the trick, it has to be 'that' blue one or nothing, cue tears, screams and tantrums.

And all because of the lost dummy in the Jardin de Luxembourg at the end of a sunny Sunday afternoon...

Paris town hall 'thanks' Paris Saint-Germain football club for becoming the champions of the league for the first time in many years. Thanks for the riots on the Champs Elysées, thanks for the broken windows and the vandalised cars, thanks for the fear to walk the streets. Thanks guys, thanks...

If the Gates of Hell really are populated with such shapely posteriors I'd be sorely tempted to sin with the best of 'em...

I learnt about a new phenomenon on a photo tour the other day: yarn bombing, I believe it's called.

Appears that roaming mobs of gnarly knitters wielding potentially dangerous foot-long metal pins swoop down upon unsuspecting statues and bollards and any other items of street furniture which tickle their fancy and away they click.

Balls of wool whirling and needles purling the end result is cute colourful little snippets of roughly woven cloth warming various chilly extremities.

Well, as long as it keeps harrumphing harlots occupied it can't be a bad thing...

Another chapter in the Paris bridge locks saga. As the sides of the Pont des Arts slowly disintegrate, they are removed, section by section and replaced by ugly wooden panels, which immediately attract the graffiti goons...
