Some streets just see themselves as that little bit more important than others. Here's an example.

Gone is the classic blue Parisian street name, to be replaced by a sparkling golden mosaic. Oo là là !

I don't know with what initiative certain streets are able or inclined to do this, but it certainly brightens the place up a bit.

This is a dismembered part of the design and fashion centre on the left bank near Austerlitz station ish.

And the sign in the only of its kind I've ever seen - quite funny if you look at it closely.

Pale green, blue and yellow is also an unusual combination - check out the building if you can - you can climb up and get a nice view of the Seine from the top...

I was chatting to a bird-spotting colleague of mine the other day and our conversation went something like this:

"I saw a curious looking bird on the Seine the other..."
"Cormorant."
"And it was this big black thing and very impressive and just sitting there and..."
"Cormorant."
"Oh, and I took this picture of them - check it out..."
"Cormorant."

So there you have it, and a quick Google search for... you guessed it, cormorants would appear to bear out my colleague's quick off the mark prognosis.

This picture was as good as I could get with my little iPhone on a grey grey day, but you get the idea. Cormorants. Three of them.

Strange goings-on at your friendly local Catholic church, it would seem, judging by a glance at their notice board.

I've got no idea what the top illustration is about, but the lower one is pretty unambiguous. It's basically slagging off the 'marriage for all' law - i.e. gay marriages. The text is telling: roughly "Here we have it - the book 'Daddy wears a dress' is making its way into the national education programme for little kiddies. Decadence is now!"

What is the world coming to, they seem to be saying.
